My 4th of July Mantel Scape

 Happy 4th of July 2011!
This is our very first mantel scape in our new home and I'm so excited about it cuz its red, white and blue......one of my very favorite color combos!  When I first got all my decorations out and started setting them around it was way too much! I had to tone it down and spread things out.  Oh and of course I rearranged it several times before I got it just right. Now I can't stop looking at it! I love it!
Remember when I showed you how I made this fancy framed chalkboard HERE?  Well just look at what my honey graffiti-ed on it! Isn't that the coolest? I love it!  I will have a very hard time erasing this work of art!
This is just a few nick-knacks I threw into my tiered basket.  There's a pinwheel from WalMart, a few coasters from our road trip to Fredricksburg, a sweet little red birdie in a nest, an old doily my Mamaw made for me and oh yes some new wooden firecrackers I made!
Here they are!  I found the idea HERE on Pinterest and then just put my own twist on them. So darned adorable!  I used left overs of the flag blocks I made HERE.  They were perfect for my crackers and I didn't have to throw anything away!
Next up is my USA banner that I made with rockets on the ends.  More Pinterest goodness!  My inspiration for the banner is from HERE and the rockets didn't have a good link, but you can view my red, white and blue board HERE and see for yourself. It will be fun trying to find them! lol!
I made my rockets using a paper towel roll  cut in half and then covered in scrapping paper.  For the top I cut the largest scalloped circle I had in my Nesties set and then cut out a section of 9 scallops, folded and glued.  Then I used some more of the twine for the jet details.
And here's another Pinterest freebie.  Yes, I do spend lots of time on Pinterest...I love it! Get your freebie HERE. Oh and please leave her some love for her kindness!
And yet another Subway Art freebie I found via Pinterest.  You can find it HERE.  I've since found one simular with a little bunting banner strung across the top and I'm thinking I might add one to my lovely you see above.
And just look who I found in some of my "younger days" stuff! Mr. Sock Monkey himself!  I'm not too sure just how old he is, but I'm guess right if I say he's in his 30s! Poor little guy needs some mending!
Lastly is Ms. Bunny.  She's not in the mantel scene, but she's cute and I had to show her to you!
There you are! Our very first mantel scape of 2011!  Hmmm, I wonder what I can come up with next?

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!

It is so frustrating for me because I cannot figure them out. Any advice you have on these would be much appreciated!!! Thanks for visiting my blog!
