Our Guest Bathroom Makeover

Hello there! How are you?

I did this bathroom makeover way back in August but I'm just now sharing it here on the blog. Ya know how it is!

Anyway, there are lots of things that I would have done differently in this bathroom, but it looks to be a fairly new update, so we're going with what we have to work with, for now.  A fresh coat of paint never hurt anything, right!

This was one of the photos from the real estate listing when we were house searching. Whoa, that's a really bright and happy color, but not for us!

Let's get started!  This is actually the same paint color that I used in the man cave makeover that I haven't showed you yet either! lol!  Coming soon though!

I always like to line my paint tray with foil for easy clean up.  I also used a foam roller, my handy angle brush and of course some painter's tape to keep paint from getting on things that don't need paint on them!

This paint is from Home Depot and its really nice to work with and very affordable too.  I always grab the paint and primer paint because it takes two coats and your done!

As you can see, the entire bathroom has this wood paneling on the walls.  Whoever installed the paneling was not as picky as I would be and did not seal the cracks and crevices with caulk.  Gaping cracks drives me crazy and makes your nice clean paint job look unfinished.

As I kept painting it was obvious that I would have to fill the cracks to make my paint job look complete.

NOTE: For the actual painting process, I used my paint brush to paint the "cracks" in the paneling, then used the roller to finish it up.  You can see that best in this photo.

When I'm speaking of filling cracks with caulk, I'm not talking about the cracks/lines in the paneling.  I mean the corner cracks and the top up there were the walls meet the ceiling.  Big cracks, I don't like it at all! Lets fill those up with paintable caulk!

This photo is after two coats of paint.

Sorry, I couldn't show you how my caulk process goes, but I use a paintable caulk that we get at Home Depot.  I run a small thin bead along the crack and then smooth it out with my finger.  I also keep a damp rag with me in case the caulk goes a little off course!

As you can see here, it's filling the cracks nicely!  After it dries completely (I wait a good hour) I paint over it and them you never know it was there!

See! No more big crack in the corner to distract from the pretty new paint!

And now, some Fall decor to liven it up in here!

I found these amber jars on Amazon.  There were six in the case for an excellent price.  Click here if you need some too!

I also got my amber soap dispenser on Amazon too, click here for those.  Thanks so much for stopping by to see me!

Halloween Table Setting for 2020

Hello there! How ya doing? Good? Me too!

Ok, we all know that 2020 has been scary!  I decided to make our Halloween table (for two) slightly spooky with skeletons this year.

I found the skeleton napkins at Walmart in the Halloween isle. For the price, they're pretty nice quality too!  The place mat and charger are from Hobby Lobby.  I've had the black striped plates for years.
I mostly use what I already have, lots of thrifted items that I just gather from my stash.
I made this witch's broom from sticks in our backyard.  My hubs held it all together for me while I wrapped the twine around it to hold it all together.  I want to make another one and make it much fuller in the broom area.  I have some cute photos on my Instagram where I used my new broom in the shot!
I found these skeleton hand goblets at Dollar Tree last year.  To be honest, I have not been in a DT in months so I have no idea if they have them again or not.
I recently found these tiny little copper salt and pepper shakers while out searching for treasures.  I had to have them! So cute!

FUN FACT:  My hubs will thrift shop for me too!  He travels all over the DFW metroplex for his work, so if he sees a Goodwill and he has time, he will pop in.  This cake stand was a recent find.  The top was not a color I cared for, so I painted it Rubbed Oil Bronze to match the bottom and now I LOVE it!

I also used my little butter pats and a mini cupcake liner with some candies in it to add as a little treat.

Of course I love using my vintage flatware for photos.  We don't use them to eat with.
See that doily? It is also a recent find.  It reminds me of a spider web so I used it as such.
This cute little Jack is from my boys childhood and I love it and love to use it each year!
The vase is filled with dry black beans and red lentils, which appear as orange.   They were stacked side by side at the store and this idea popped into my head, so I grabbed them!

I hope I've inspired you and it wasn't too spooky for your liking.  Thanks for stopping by to see me!

Halloween Decor in the Bungalow

Hello there!

How are you doing?

Are you ready for Halloween? We are!  I normally don't do very spooky, mostly cute for Halloween!  Let me show you!

I haven't really purchased anything new this year, just busted out all of my tubs full of Fall stuff and started placing it here and there!
Its hard to decorate a space that you've never decorated before!  I always try to make little vignettes with like things or things I think look good together.  This little amber snuff jar is truly vintage, but I added the little label on the front.  It was a free printable from Pinterest. I printed it out on card stock paper and then glued it on!
These little cuties were found at a yard sale several years ago and I always love bringing them out each year! So cute!  I made the 31 plate using vinyl.
Yall!  I found the perfect Karate Chop Pillows!  Also, these orange pillow covers are a MUST for the Fall season!  Check them out here and here!  All of this in my Amazon Shop with more good stuff too!
This witch right here is Willow!  She is a good witch and she's a wonderful piece of art! Go check her out right HERE!  Please tell the sweet ladies at Just Joy Shop that I sent you!
My sweet boy Zel always stops for a photo shoot and of course "helps" me decorate too!
I'm having so much fun with all my Fairy Tale pumpkins this year!  I hope to grow my own next year! :)
Check out my Instagram for all the details on my faux treats you see here!
This pumpkin banner is so adorable and its double sided.  I got it right here.  Please check her out!

My favorite thing to do this year is add my mums to old metal buckets!  Mums are gorgeous anyways, but in an old bucket, even better!

That's about it yall!  I hope you got some ideas if you love decorating with old stuff like I do!  Thanks so much for stopping by today! :)

Adding Fall to Our Bedroom

Happy Fall Yall!

Do you decorate your bedroom for all the occasions?  I normally just add some type of pretty bedding and a little bit of seasonal decor to the bedside tables.  Let me show you what I've done this year.

We've had this bedding for several years now.  It's Better Homes and Garden from Walmart.  It's reversible!
I've always got to have vintage goodies in every room, so what's better than old alarm clocks in the bedroom? Not much!
Of course there must be candles in the bedroom.  THIS candle right here is AMAZING for Fall!  Getcha one with my code DDCAMP and enjoy yourself a wonderful candle! FREE shipping in the US.
We got a new mattress pad and its probably the best one we've ever had!  So far, we're loving it!  I have a code for you t save $$$$ if you need a new one too!  Use code DYGEN15 to take 15% off everything at Downlite Bedding Company.
Its very luxurious, you know, its like you're staying in a fancy hotel!
And since we're talking about new luxury comfort items, this pillow right here is extremely comfy!  Doesn't it seem like everything wears out all at once and then you need to buy new?  Yep, that was us recently!
And lastly, I need a little more extra fru-fru on my side of the bed, so I added this small wreath and a DT pumpkin that I made over!  See that make over right here.
Thank you so much for visiting me here in our Fall bedroom!  Please visit my other Fall decor related posts below.

Fall Porch Decor on a 1922 Craftsman Bungalow

 Hello! It's Fall!

We are still having HOT temps here, but it's Texas, so we're used to it!  I'm just going with the flow and putting out all my pumpkins and mums anyway!

My old rusty bicycle is fun to decorate for each occasion.  Here she's sporting a pretty book page garland, a doily with  a pumpkin on top and a basket full of yellow mums!
Isn't she fun!  I got my big Cinderella pumpkins and the mums at Home Depot this year.  The small pumpkins and gourds are from Walmart.

I made the garland and you can see that tutorial right HERE.  It's so easy!

I also got a brand new set of wind chimes that have the most beautiful tone!  You can find them right HEREPlease enjoy a 20% off discount when you apply it in the checkout. Use my code DEEDEE20 to get your beautiful set of chimes today!
I love using unusual items to hold flowers.  This rusty minnow bucket was a perfect vessel for Fall florals!
It matches my new front door mat perfectly.  I searched high and low for a thin mat that would allow my screen door to open over it and THIS ONE is it! I love it!

Let me know if you have any questions about any of my front porch decor!  I'd love to hear from you down in the comment section below!
