Citrus Charm: Embrace the Sunshine with a Lemon-Inspired Table Setting

Hey yall, how are you doing?  It's still really hot here in Texas, like over 100 degrees hot.  It's miserable and as much as I love Summertime, I'm ready for Fall weather now.

I wanted to share my new white tablecloth and napkins as well as my beautiful lemon dishes with you for a pretty Summertime table setting.

In the world of table settings, few themes evoke the spirit of summer quite like the zesty vibrance of lemons. Their cheerful color and refreshing scent can instantly transform a dining experience into a delightful celebration of the season. So, why not embrace the essence of sunshine and create a lemon-inspired table setting that will captivate your guests and elevate any meal? In this blog post, we'll explore how to infuse your table with citrus charm, using lemon dishes as the focal point of your summer dining oasis.

The Color Palette

When designing a lemon-inspired table setting, it's essential to begin with a carefully curated color palette. The primary hues should consist of sunny yellows, bright greens, and clean whites. Let the vivacious yellow of the lemons take center stage, balanced by the freshness of green accents and the elegance of white elements.

Lemon Dinnerware

The highlight of your lemon-inspired table setting will undoubtedly be the lemon dishes themselves. Choose dinner plates with a striking lemon print or pattern, and complement them with matching salad plates and bowls. If you can't find lemon-printed dinnerware, opt for solid yellow plates that mirror the hue of ripe lemons. Combine these with crisp white serving plates to balance the vibrancy and create a cohesive look.

One thing that could make this theme even better is citrus infused cuisine.  To complete the lemon-inspired experience, craft a menu featuring dishes infused with the bright flavor of lemons. Lemon-infused grilled chicken, lemon herb pasta, and lemon tart desserts are just a few delectable options to consider. The culinary delights will perfectly complement the theme and ensure a memorable dining event.

Better yet, try it outside in the backyard under a tree with a cool breeze blowing.  The cool breeze is currently unavailable here in Texas, but Fall is coming!

Whether hosting a summer soirée or a simple family dinner, let the sunshine in with a table setting that celebrates the zestiness of life. Lemon Themed Tablescape

Hello there! I hope you've been good!  I've been working, cat wrangling and still putting things away in my new home.  It's a long hard chore, but I'm slowly getting there.

I recently received some new lemon dishes from Bico and I had to immediately create a tablescape with them!

The dishes have lots of green, white and of course yellow!  I shopped my stash to create a beautiful table setting.  I didn't buy anything new.

This is my centerpiece.  I feel like a table is not complete without a centerpiece.  The base of my piece is a spring wreath that I scored at CVS years ago for 1/2 price.  It's of very nice quality and I use it every year.

I just laid the wreath in the center of the table and then added a plain white cake stand, topped it with a vintage doily, then added a blue Ball jar.  I added a small boxwood wreath to the top of the jar and then filled the jar with my faker tulips.  Did I fool you with the tulips?  Did you think they were real?  Find them here.

Look at these gorgeous dishes!  The lemon theme is wonderful to bring on Summer.  I used my plain white charger from Hobby Lobby, then placed the 3 pieces of dishes on it and finished off the stack with my vintage silverware.  The silverware is not used for eating, just photo shoots! Lol!

I used some vintage pinwheel place mats and turned them so that they would fall off the edge of the table, into the direction of the chair.  I really liked that effect!

I also used my Pioneer Woman plastic glasses and her yellow gingham checked napkins tucked inside each glass.

The fun part about these napkins is, they come with 4 different colors in one pack.  I have four packs and that means I have four sets of gingham napkins.  I think gingham is truly farmhouse and I LOVE THEM for adding charm to my table settings!

Wanna know how I made over my farmhouse table and chairs?  Check it out right here, table and chairs.

I hope I've inspired you to create a late Spring, early Summer tablescape and you try one of your own.  I will definitely be looking for all things lemon while I'm out thrifting so I can add to my beautiful table, year after year!

Happy New Year Table Setting

Happy New Year!

This year is going to be AMAZING, or at least I'm going to make it amazing, to the best of my abilities!

As I sit here and type this, it's cold here .  Very cold.  26 degrees at 11am.  We Texans don't do cold very well, at least this Texan doesn't! Lol!

I'm recovering from my bout with THE BUG (for the second time), but felt a bit better on New Year's Eve so I decided to create this table setting to make my dining room prettier.  Decorating is like therapy to me, but let me be honest , I had to rest after this small amount of decorating.

Although this bug is not like the first time I had it, it still makes me very tired, very quickly.  Today as I sit here, I feel much better and will be returning to work on Monday.

As usual, I used what I had on hand to create my table setting.  My favorite Pioneer Woman dishes will do for my New Year's table or anytime for that matter!

Anywhoobs, let's get on to the details on my table!  I always like to start out with a doily of some type, this time I used a runner.  Next I added a place mat, charger and then my dishes and silverware.  Next was my centerpiece.

I created my centerpiece with this in mind.  Light, Time and Memories.  The light of of our Lord Jesus, the time He gives us here on earth and the memories we create living our lives each day.

I want 2022 to be a year full of wonderful memories as I try to build a life in my new home.  Although I wish things could have ended up differently, they did not.  I am going to give it my best from here on out.  One thing I've learned from all of this is, I was NOT awake and living for the past few years.  I am now.

You can see my beautiful dresser over there that I used for a coffee bar in my last house.  I haven't quite got all of that set up yet, so I'm just decorating it to go with the rest of the room for now.

You can't go wrong with a stack of books, a beautiful ring of greenery and a pretty candle.  Oh! And of course, gorgeous vintage doily!  Ya got to have a doily!

I still have lots of things to do to get settled in my new home, but for now I have a pretty table to look at!

Now, back to unpacking more boxes.  I hope you have a wonderful day and a wonderful year!

Thrifty Tips for Creating a Farmhouse Spring Table

Hello there! I hope you're doing well!

Spring is near so I thought I'd share some thrifty ideas for your Spring table. Creating a beautiful table for any occasion does not have to be expensive. Use what you have or gather up things on the cheap, a little at a time.

Now, when I say thrifty, I mean that I'm using actual items that I've thrifted, things that I've created or gathered from my stash of decor that I've had for years.

I created this little vignette by stacking a charger, a vintage plate and then topping it with a ceramic bunny, some faux eggs and a couple of clothespin carrots that I made.  You can see a better view of how it looks on the table in the photo up above this one.
Another idea for a Springy scene is the same charger and plate stacked with a vintage blue Ball jar filled with the faux eggs and then placing the ceramic bunny crew around it.  I topped the jar with a half sphere piece of greenery.

Look how sweet this is!  I love my little bunny crew that my sweet step Mom made for me years ago.  They come out each and every Easter!

In the photo above this one I used a handmade chenille carrot (I found mine on Etsy) as an accent on the table setting of all thrifted dishes. (dishes are mostly from Goodwill)  Here I've swapped out the carrot for one of the bunnies.  So many variations using what you have on hand!

Of course, fresh flowers from the grocery store is always a good idea, but if you don't have fresh flowers, you can always use faux flowers too. Dollar Tree has them for $1 per stem!

My straw chargers are from Dollar General and this stack of vintage plates are from Goodwill.  This whole stack cost me about $4 total.  I'll be honest with you, I'm a cheapo and I do not like paying lots of money for anything, especially decor! Haha!  Use your imagination when you're out thrifting, wondering through flea markets or yard sales.

You can create beautiful decor for your home in a thrifty way! :)

Halloween Table Setting for 2020

Hello there! How ya doing? Good? Me too!

Ok, we all know that 2020 has been scary!  I decided to make our Halloween table (for two) slightly spooky with skeletons this year.

I found the skeleton napkins at Walmart in the Halloween isle. For the price, they're pretty nice quality too!  The place mat and charger are from Hobby Lobby.  I've had the black striped plates for years.
I mostly use what I already have, lots of thrifted items that I just gather from my stash.
I made this witch's broom from sticks in our backyard.  My hubs held it all together for me while I wrapped the twine around it to hold it all together.  I want to make another one and make it much fuller in the broom area.  I have some cute photos on my Instagram where I used my new broom in the shot!
I found these skeleton hand goblets at Dollar Tree last year.  To be honest, I have not been in a DT in months so I have no idea if they have them again or not.
I recently found these tiny little copper salt and pepper shakers while out searching for treasures.  I had to have them! So cute!

FUN FACT:  My hubs will thrift shop for me too!  He travels all over the DFW metroplex for his work, so if he sees a Goodwill and he has time, he will pop in.  This cake stand was a recent find.  The top was not a color I cared for, so I painted it Rubbed Oil Bronze to match the bottom and now I LOVE it!

I also used my little butter pats and a mini cupcake liner with some candies in it to add as a little treat.

Of course I love using my vintage flatware for photos.  We don't use them to eat with.
See that doily? It is also a recent find.  It reminds me of a spider web so I used it as such.
This cute little Jack is from my boys childhood and I love it and love to use it each year!
The vase is filled with dry black beans and red lentils, which appear as orange.   They were stacked side by side at the store and this idea popped into my head, so I grabbed them!

I hope I've inspired you and it wasn't too spooky for your liking.  Thanks for stopping by to see me!

Bingo Card Place Setting

Hello there!

With all the moving, unpacking and remodeling going on in our new home, I had to take a break and style a table setting!  What was the table setting for you ask?  Nothing at all really!  It was basically a stress reliever that I needed at the moment.  You should try it sometime, its fun!

Check out my stories on Instagram for some fun projects we've done around the house so far!
So back to how this little Bingo Place Setting came about:

I was looking for my collection of wax melts (moving/unpacking problems) so I looked where I USED to keep them. Nope! Apparently that’s not where I decided to keep them in the new house!

Anywhooobs, while searching for wax melts, I came across my “new” bingo cards that I really haven’t got to play with yet!

All of a sudden I was creating this pretty table setting for absolutely no reason!  Actually, it was the perfect stress reliever for my swirling mind!

𝔽𝕦𝕟 𝔽𝕒𝕔𝕥:
US bingo cards have 5×5 squares while UK bingo cards have 3 rows and 9 columns.

Lets talk about the layers.  I love layers!  First I started out with the galvanized charger, added a green plate that a friend gave me, then I added a vintage dessert plate topped with a sprig of eucalyptus and of course the vintage bingo card.  CLICK HERE for where I got the bingo cards.
In just about 30 minutes, (that's approximately how long it takes me to decide on the exact placement of each item) I created this beautiful table for two!
This was my centerpiece.  Just a bunch of blue ball jars and more bingo cards standing in between each one.
Here you can see the pretty details on the plates.  I'm a sucker for detailed plates, especially the white ones!
These sweet little green goblets that I found at Goodwill were perfect for my table setting!
These tiny shakers were messy bits of yuck when I picked them up for $1 at a junk shop, now they're all cleaned up and beautiful!
Of course I always need a beautiful vintage doily and my treasured mismatched silverware to finish off the look!
Do you ever style a table for no reason other than to have a little fun? No, just me? lol!

I hope I've inspired you with my spur of the moment Bingo Card Table Setting today! :)

Using All Natural Plates in Your Tablescapes

Hello there!  I've been sharing for this amazing company since last year. That company is the Kijani Company and they are so wonderful to work with.  These plates are 100% compostable, made from fallen palm leaves, sturdy and really beautiful! Each one is different from the next and that’s what is so fun about them.  As you can see,  I used them in my 4th of July table setting this year. Why not have a fancy table even if you’re serving hot dogs!?
This is not your average paper plate, no ma'am!  They are super sturdy and can hold lots of food without the fear of the plate giving away and you making a complete and total mess! Nope, you're NOT going to have to worry about that at your next party!
Just look how beautiful they are too!  Each one is its own original.  You can use these plates in a relaxed setting or dress it up like I have here by adding a beautiful dessert plate and a festive napkin.
My centerpiece base is actually a wreath I made.  You can find the how-tos RIGHT HERE.
Just imagine some yummy grilled hot dogs with chips and dip and then to finish the meal off, a yummy patriotic parfait!
Kijani offers three different sizes of these wonderful plates.  You can see them HERE.
Let me know down below in the comments if you've tried these plates.  I'd love to hear what you think about them!

Here are a few more ideas for other celebrations for you. Enjoy! :)

HOUSE UPDATE: We closed on our new home on July 2, 2020. We move in next weekend!  Stay tuned for the new place to start appearing here on the blog! :)
