Hey there! I have a fun DIY for you today that you can also use as decor for years to come.
I love making my own decorations sometimes because it makes it feel more special to me. This craft is so easy and fun that you'll definitely want to try it!
I made a cute garland for one of my Christmas trees using dried oranges and old book pages on a string of jute twine. So simple, your kiddos can help make this one!
You will need the following supplies to recreate my garland:Dried orange slices - make your own, or purchase them.
Jute twine
Book pages
Scissors
Hole punch
Toothpick
I started by cutting off all the blank parts of the pages. There is no certain sizes, just use whatever old book you have.
Here's what I ended up with.
Fold bottom corner up to the opposite top corner and crease.
Then fold over left to right and crease again.
Now crumble up the folded book page.
Use a toothpick to punch two holes in each orange slice.
Now punch a hole in the top pointed corner of each book page.
Take a length of twine (its up to you how long you want it) and string on 3 crumpled book pages.
String on the oranges slices by going in one hole and back up through the other.
Like so. This helps the slices to lay flat on your garland.
I love how this brand new garland that I just made looks vintage already. I guess you would call it vintage inspired.
I love how it looks on the tree! I added some pine cones from my Mama's yard to finish off the vintage look.
Let me know if you give this garland a try.
