How to Make a Be Mine Valentine Banner

Funny story, wait, some of its not really funny though. We hid in our bathroom for about an hour on Friday night because there were tornado sirens sounding due to the tornado in our area.  The cats were scared to death but we knew exactly when danger had passed because they instantly relaxed and stopped crying like someone was winding up their tails!  By the way it was about 70 degrees during this event.

No damage happened in our neighborhood, just 4 1/4 inches of rain.  Thank you Lord!

Now the funny part.  Saturday morning we woke up to 3 inches of snow and 28 degrees! What the what Mother Nature!  I guess that's Texas weather for you!  See my Instagram saved highlights under "House Love" for the snow pictures.  It was beautiful!  Here's my IG handle @texasbluebungalow
House sale update:  We're still on for a sale as of today!  The appraiser came by on the 9th and did the appraisal and now we are just waiting to hear something from that.  On a sad note, I got laid off from my job last Monday January 6th.  We will now be unable to purchase a new home at this time due to me having no proof of income.  No worries though, we've decided to rent for about 6 months until I find another job and get established.  At least we will be debt free and not have to worry about all those bills!  Stay tuned!

Now on to my cute little BE MINE banner that I made using some Christmas gift tags from Dollar General.  You can see it hanging there up above, at the bottom of my mailbox wall. Cute? I think so!

You will need the following:
7 tags - (these could work)
Black card stock
White card stock
Red card stock
Glue
Jute twine
Clothespins (crafty size)
Recently I stopped into the local Dollar General and they had all of their left over Christmas items marked down to 70% off.  I found these cute burlap gift tags.  They are burlap on the front and card stock on the back.  They're a two pack for .30 cents.  I bought all they had, 4 packages, that gave me eight tags.  By the way, if you can't find these exact tags, they would be easy enough to cut out by hand. They measure 4 1/2" x 3".
Next I used my Cricut cutting machine to cut out all the letters and the heart shape.  They are cut at 2 1/2".  I cut a shadow from black card stock and the top letter from white card stock.  I used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for the letters.
Same for the heart shape but I used the Doodlecharms cartridge for it and its cut at 2".
I used my favorite paper glue of all time, Zip Dry Glue to adhere all the pieces together and then glue them onto the burlap.

NOTE: I peeled off the Christmas sticker form each tag then I used the Zip Dry Glue to glue together the burlap piece to the card stock piece before I added my letters.
They came with the black and white baker's twine on each tag.  I removed all of the twine except from the tag with the heart shape on it.  You can leave it if you like, but I preferred to remove it for my project.  I used some tiny clothes pins that I got at Dollar Tree to adhere my tags to a long piece of jute twine that I also got at Dollar Tree.
I cut my jute twine at about 3 feet so I could use it in different spaces each year.  After you get it hung up, just space your tags out until you like the way it looks.
You could also use paint and stencils if you had them to make this project too!  Just use whatever you have on hand and get to creating!
I hope you can make your very own BE MINE banner too.  To me, crafting is good for the soul!
