Touring Our Tiny House

Welcome to our tiny rental house!  We're settling in, but when it comes to decor, this house continues to change all the time.  Mainly because I'm unemployed and I have lots of time on my hands, haha, but also because I'm still unpacking and putting things away.  Sometimes that means, I have to rethink the way I placed it all the first time.  You'll even see by the end of this tour that this space below, has changed already.
This is Piper (floor) and Hazel, our two girls.  You'll see Zel, our boy cat later on in the post.  The move was very rough on them.  All three grew up in our previous home so they knew nothing else.  It took them a good week to finally relax and settle in.  I think it helped the more I got things organized and back to normal.
I'm standing against the wall to shoot this picture.  If you remember a few posts back, I told you we had 982 square feet of house to work with.  That's not the tiniest, but its certainly not what we're used to either, so it's been a challenge to make our stuff fit.  To be honest, we have LOTS in storage.
Here's the dining area where my old hutch, Ophelia, lives with the table and chairs. I must say that the open concept of this area helps it to not feel so small in here.

The kitchen is to the left there.  Did you see how I made over the counter tops in the kitchen?  Check it out here.
When I snapped these pictures, we were still decorated for Valentine's Day.  It's already switched to Spring now! Let me just tell you that I sure do miss my glass top range, oh boy do I!
This is a really long counter top, but by the time I get all  my stuff on it, there isn't much room to use for cooking.  I'm figuring that out too!  Oh and did you notice, there is no dishwasher, hence the dish drying rack there!  Dish pan hands over here!
To the left of the stove is our little coffee station.  It's now sharing its space with a small microwave too because I'm one of those people who rewarms their coffee a bajillion times each morning and we love popcorn!
And just to the left of the coffee station is our laundry nook.  Our machines barely fit!  This house wasn't intended to house modern day appliances!
Now, to the right of the laundry nook is our bedroom.  Here's Piper again, this is her favorite spot!  As a matter of fact, all three cats use this room as their safe space.

We completely made this room nice and cozy the very first day we moved in just so the cats would have a place that was familiar to them.  We kept them closed in here while we moved in so there would be no chance of an accidental escape.  I purposely did not wash our linens just so they would have our scent on them.  Imma a weirdo cat Mama, what can I say!
Right off the kitchen is one more bedroom and the bathroom.  The bedroom is being used as our cat room, office and storage.  There are only two closets in this house and we have them both packed full of stuff, so some things just have to be out sitting in the spare room.

The bathroom is of course very small, but look at this beauty of a tub!  I've never taken so many baths in all my life!  I may need one of these cuties in our next home. I'm standing in the hallway to get this shot!
Now I'm standing in the tub to get this one!  It's tiny yall, but we're making it work!
There's Zel!  He's normally following me around if I'm not being still, so it was bound to happen that I got him in a photo.

Now I'm walking back through the kitchen and back into the dining and living areas.  We at least have our own fridge with us.  Yay!  Again, this thing is so huge in here because this house wasn't made for modern, giant sized appliances!
There's my Ophelia!  At our previous home she housed a lot of my holiday decor.  When I packed up to move, I sorted each separate holiday into plastic totes.  Now she is housing my everyday decor, so I decided to leave her doors open to display the pretties inside.  Again, we were still decorated for Valentine's Day here, but not anymore.

See how I made that yummy cake sitting there, right here.
Here we are again, back where we started, but it already looks slightly different.  And you know what? It's already changed again! Haha!

If you love that wreath on the old window there, you can find it in my Amazon shop, link below.

If you loved this idea and want to save it for later, be sure to pin it to your favorite Pinterest board.  I have a Pinterest board all set up just for Tiny House Dreams and all kinds of other fun stuff and I'm pinning something new every day. Won't you join me?

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!

  2. It is wonderful! It's so cheerful and lovely! We lived for quite a few years in a house even a bit smaller than that one. It wasn't decorated nearly as cute, though! I love your kitty cats too.
