My Favorite Corner in the House (and Why It Smells Like Cake)

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when you give a vintage soul free reign in her own home.....well, you’re looking at it. Meet Ophelia. She lives in the living room.

This little corner is what I lovingly call my “Ophelia Corner.” It’s the warmest spot in the house, not because of the floor lamp (though she tries), but because this space is dripping with charm, character, and just a pinch of grandma’s kitchen.

The real star here is my vintage Hoosier hutch, painted in the prettiest shades of orange and olive green. She’s chipped, she’s sturdy, and she’s seen more pie crusts than I have patience. I decked her out with my favorite stack of dishes, a few enamel treasures that my brother helps me collect, and of course, some vintage utensils that may or may not be just for looks. (We don’t ask too many questions around here.)

If you zoom in, you’ll spot a glowing candle, because yes, I absolutely want it to smell like vanilla cake in here at all times. You’ll also see my stack of plates (of course) and an old-school cake tin that I will never part with. Ever. Don’t even try it.

There’s something about this little corner that just feels like home. It’s where color meets comfort. Where nostalgia meets function. And where you can usually find me sipping sweet tea and pretending, I’m hosting a 1950s cooking show (just kidding.....or am I?).

So, if you need me, I’ll be right here, rearranging doilies, fluffing tea towels, and living my best old-soul life.

I'm going to miss this house when she sells.
