Installing a Security Light with Camera

Hey yall!  It's finally getting to be nicer weather.  I've already mowed my lawn 3 times now! Woohoo! Do you like to mow?

Anywhoooobs, my security light on the front porch was on the fritz, so I decided to replace it.  I wanted to upgrade, so I chose a light that also had a camera too.

There she is, upper left hand corner.  I chose white to go with the trim on my house.

This is the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera in white.  It is currently under $100 right now.  My oldest son installed it for me in just a matter of minutes.  If you don't want to mess with the electricity part of it, they also have the battery operated version right here.

This is the poor old ugly worn out light that was here when I moved in.  We removed it and immediately tossed it in the dumpster!  It did its job for who knows how long.

After the old light was down, my son prepped the wires for the new light.  He used these wire strippers.

The lights on this unit are LED and you can make them as dim or bright as you want to using the app that is described in the instructions.  Just a note, you must download the app to activate the device.  It gives you step by step directions.

Comes with everything you need, and some leftover extras parts too. Ya know, just in case. Haha!

So nice and easy to install too.  The step by step instructions have you up and monitoring in a very short time.

After he connected the wires as directed, it was two screws to hold it in place.10 out of 10, I highly recommend!

Lights, camera and ACTION!  The picture quality is very nice and they even give you one month free service of being able to save your recordings.  After that time is up you have two choices of a yearly fee, I chose the less expensive one at $30 per year. Of course each plan offers different things, but the cheaper one was perfect for what I needed.

Tah Dah! And in case you noticed the "rug" on my steps, I'll be sharing how I did that SOON! You may have noticed how awful my steps looked in that very first picture up there, so I had to doll it up!

If you loved any of these ideas and want to save them for later, be sure to pin it to your favorite Pinterest board.  I have a Pinterest board set up for all kinds of Home Inspired ideas and it's called For My HomeI'm pinning something new on Pinterest every day. Won't you join me?
