Easter Nest Cakes Using Jello Molds for Baking

Hello there! I hope you're doing well!

Our weather has been pretty good, we've had a rainy, gloomy day here and there, but no more freezing temps and that's perfect in my books!  Bring on Spring weather please!

Speaking of Spring, Easter is on April 4th this year, so I thought I'd go ahead and start sharing some cute ideas!

How cute are these little nest cakes?

Here's what you need to make them:

1 - Strawberry Cake Mix, I use Duncan Hines.

1 - Container of Cream Cheese Frosting

1 - package of Cadbury Chocolate Mini Eggs

A few vintage jello molds or cup cake wrappers

A cake decorating tool

I used a strawberry cake mix because that's what I had on hand, but lemon cake would be yummy too!

NOTE: When using these vintage jello molds to bake the cake in, make sure you place them inside a baking pan to protect them from getting too hot.  They're actually for jello, and not baking cakes! Ha!  I baked at 325 degrees and just kept an eye on them.  They baked a little quicker than the cupcakes did.

As you can see, I also made cupcakes using the remainder of the batter.  Either one is cute!

After they cooled really well, I flipped them over and used the "bumpy" side up.  I used store bought frosting as well, cream cheese frosting is what we like.  Using my Mamaw's frosting tool, you know the metal plunger type, I made a few tiny stars in a circle for the candy eggs to nest in.

For the cupcakes, I just covered the top with stars and then placed the eggs on top, gently pushing them into the frosting.

Either the jello mold or cupcake version is cute and would be so much fun for your Easter get together.  My granddaughters will love these!
A cup of coffee and a cake after Easter lunch, yes please!

I hope you enjoyed this sweet Easter idea.  A little something fun never hurts, right?

If you loved this idea and want to save it for later, be sure to pin it to your favorite Pinterest board.  I have a Pinterest board set up for all things related to Easter and Spring and its called Here Comes Peter Cottontail and I'm pinning something new every day. Won't you join me?

GREAT NEWS!  I now have an Amazon Storefront!  If you ever want to purchase anything I'm showing you here, you can pop over to my shop and see what I've picked out for you! Click right here to visit.

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!
