Master Bathroom Vanity Part 2

 Happy Sunday!
It's part 2 of the vanity re-do.  As of today we have it all done and are putting the final touches on the mirrors above the vanities.
Here's a few more of the steps we took to get to the final result.
After we beat them up and sanded them smooth again, I applied one coat of Minwax Dark Walnut stain, then lightly sanded it with a very fine sand paper.
Look how the wood grain just pops and shows it's beauty!  I love the different variations in color!
Then we tried the sink with it to see how it was going to look.....wonderful, that's how it looked!
Lastly I applied two coats of Minwax Polyurethane to seal the wood and guard against any water damage. We've since tried it out for "water-proof-ness" and it passes with flying colors.
After it cured for 24 hours, my honey installed the sink and faucet and then attached it to the cabinet that we also re-did.  More on those steps next week!

It doesn't have to be done all at once.  It is a slow process in the works! C-ya next time!

  6. I realize this is an old post so if you see this I have a question regarding the wood top. In a previous comment I explained I am making the same wood top. In my research I read 1 article that advised using biscuit jointer and glue. I was thinking just glue but they advised without biscuits high humidity will cause the wood to warp. In my research I have not found any other articles that substantiate biscuits are necessary. I don't want to invest in the tools required to join with biscuits. My project is now on the back burner till I can determine if it is necessary. Seeing your gorgeous vanity top makes me want to go forward with mine but I don't know how to proceed, hoping you can help. Did you use biscuits to join the wood planks in your vanity top? If not, have you had any issues with warping. P.S. I'm not knowledgeable about blogs so I followed your Pinterest cause I don't know how to follow your blog. I love the work you and your husband have done...Kudos to you both!

    1. Hi again Cindy! No, we did not use biscuits at all, just wood glue and wood screws, however, this is NOT a bathroom with high humidity. With that being said, my husband is not one to always tidy up the water spills he makes and so far we have not had any warping or any other problems with the wood or the finish.
